About the Artist
Richard Hunt (1935-2023, Chicago, IL) was a renowned American sculptor whose work has been characterized by his use of welded steel to create abstract forms. Trained at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, Hunt’s early work drew upon influences from both modernist abstraction and the industrial landscape of his hometown. Over the course of his career, he has completed numerous public commissions and his work can be found in major museums across the United States. Hunt is recognized for his innovative approach to steel, manipulating the material to evoke organic and dynamic forms.
